3 Ways Children Can Celebrate LEGO’s 90th Anniversary

By

Did you know that LEGO is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year? The Danish toymaker started in August 1932 when Ole Kirk Christiansen began making wooden toys in his workshop. Since then, LEGO has become the biggest toy maker in the world. Not one of the biggest. The biggest! When they make toys for everyone, it’s easy to see why LEGO has become so popular. From cars to castles, children can find all kinds of LEGO sets on toy shop shelves. If your children love Harry Potter toys or fantastical spaceships, this August is sure to be a month of fun and unforgettable LEGO toys. Here are a few ways children can celebrate!

Lego Friends

Celebrate with a Fun New Set!

Of course, the best way to celebrate the LEGO 90th anniversary is with a new LEGO set. There are so many to choose from. LEGO Friends is an excellent choice for children who love to play make-believe in a more realistic setting. LEGO Friends brings city living to life colourfully and imaginatively. The theme is set in the fictional Heartlake City, where children can play school, veterinarian, theatre and so much more. There are small LEGO Friends sets all the way up to large sets for older children. No matter which set or theme you choose, new LEGO sets are great gifts for any occasion.

It wouldn’t be the LEGO 90th anniversary without a few special sets, would it? To celebrate, The LEGO Group is releasing several special sets to mark the occasion. Children can enjoy classic building fun with the 90 Years of Play set. This special set includes many classic bricks and pieces children of all ages are familiar with. The fun doesn’t stop there! Children (and adults, too) can experience the world of Classic Space with the new Galaxy Explorer. This remarkable set is based on the original Galaxy Explorer from 1979. There’s also the Lion Knights’ Castle, a giant castle with over 4500 elements. It’s a dream come true for anyone who loves castles, knights and medieval merriment!

Play Your Own Way

The truly remarkable thing about LEGO is that children can create whatever they desire. Builders are only limited by their imaginations. What better way to celebrate 90 years of LEGO than simply sitting on the floor creating? Whether they’re playing with new sets or bricks they already have, there’s always something new and exciting for your children to build next. Encourage them to add a new wing to their LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts sets. Or see what kind of superhero they can make from the extensive catalogue of LEGO superheroes (and villains). Or find out what kind of car they can invent—maybe even a vehicle worthy of your child’s favourite car-themed programme!
